Who Is Far Samji?

Fareen “Far” Samji is a 5-time Canadian Women’s Long Drive Champion, entrepreneur, speaker, author, mentor, and community leader. Born in Mombasa, Kenya, she moved to Canada at 14, later graduating from McMaster University with degrees in Psychology and Kinesiology. A former golf touring professional with a personal best drive of 334 yards, Far now serves as Tour Commissioner and coach for ALD Canada Long Drive, developing talent for international events. Passionate about empowering women and girls, she authored Smashing the Grass Ceiling (2017) to inspire professional women to connect through golf.

Entrepreneur

Far excels across industries, from healthcare to golf event management and safari travel. As a practicing Pedorthist in orthotics and orthopedic footwear, she contributes to her family business, which won the Burlington Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year award in 2016. Far also organizes golf fundraisers and facilitates concierge-led private safaris, showcasing her innovative spirit and leadership in diverse fields.

Professional Speaker

Far captivates audiences of 20 to 1,000 with her energetic presence and insights on business, golf, and life. Her Reframe for Success speech inspires meaningful connections and risk-taking for growth, leaving audiences motivated to achieve personal and professional success. Far’s ability to build trust and connection makes her a sought-after speaker for women’s empowerment.

Community Leader

A dedicated community leader, Far founded Pythons’ Pit, a not-for-profit entrepreneurial pitch contest for high school students, fostering innovation through mentorship and live pitches. She has been nominated twice for Citizen of the Year, won a Canada 150 provincial award, and received the Leading Women Leading Change award. Far also organizes community events to raise funds for worthy causes.

Mentor

Far created the Smashing Girls golf mentorship program for girls aged 11-16 who lack access to golf. Pairing them with professional women from the Smashing program, Far provides golf lessons, two 9-hole rounds, and a Smashing Nines event experience. The program teaches resilience, confidence, and interpersonal skills, showing girls that perfection isn’t required for success.

Smashing the Grass Ceiling

Far’s book, Smashing the Grass Ceiling (2017), guides women to leverage golf for business networking despite skill concerns. Through small-group workshops, she trains professionals in golf skills and strategies to confidently connect with influencers on the course, turning every round into a networking opportunity.

Long Drive Leadership

As the 5-time Canadian Women’s Long Drive Champion (2012–2016), Far now leads ALD Canada Long Drive as Tour Commissioner, running amateur events to grow the sport. Her work at aldcanada.com and @ALDCanada focuses on grassroots development, helping new talent shine internationally.
