Meet Far Samji
I’m Far. I use golf to help women build confidence and connections, on the course and in business. Five Canadian long drive titles, two ULD World titles and years of playing professional golf taught me a lot, but so did the days I wanted to hide on the first tee.

WHO IS FAR
From Mombasa to the long drive tee
Fareen “Far” Samji was born in Mombasa, Kenya, and moved to Canada at 14. She studied Psychology and Kinesiology at McMaster University, then played golf as a touring professional, with a personal best drive of 334 yards. She is also a 2x ULD World Champion in the Masters category.
Between 2012 and 2016 she won the Canadian Women’s Long Drive Championship five times in a row. In 2017 she wrote Smashing the Grass Ceiling to help professional women connect through golf, even when they don’t feel confident in their game.

LONG DRIVE
Tour Commissioner, ALD Canada
Far now leads ALD Canada Long Drive as Tour Commissioner and coach, running amateur events and helping new talent get to international competitions.

Reframe for Success
Far speaks to audiences of 20 to 1,000 on business, golf and life. Her talk is about making real connections and taking calculated risks to grow, and she’s often booked for women’s empowerment events.
MENTOR
Smashing Girls
Far created Smashing Girls to pair girls who don’t have access to golf with professional women from the Smashing community. Lessons, two 9-hole rounds and a Smashing Nines event, with a focus on confidence and resilience.
AUTHOR
Smashing the Grass Ceiling
Far’s 2017 book shows women how to use golf for business networking, even if they’re unsure of their skills. She also runs small-group workshops on golf and networking.
ENTREPRENEUR
Healthcare, golf events and safaris
Far is a practising Pedorthist in orthotics and orthopedic footwear. She also runs golf fundraisers and concierge-led private safaris, and her family business was named Burlington Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year in 2016.
COMMUNITY
Giving back locally
Far founded Pythons’ Pit, a not-for-profit pitch contest for high school entrepreneurs, and organizes community fundraisers. She’s been nominated twice for Citizen of the Year.
